What the course covers

Upon completion of the course, delegates should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key requirements of data protection legislation such as:

  • How the Context of an organisation affects controls selection
  • The Principles of data protection and how to integrate these
  • Lawful basis for processing of personal data.
  • The Accountability principle
  • Obligations of controllers, joint controllers and data processors.
  • International data transfers obligations and options
  • Data subject rights and how to provide for them
  • The role of independent supervisory authorities (ISAs) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
  • Breaches, enforcement and liability as well as Breach Management
  • Processing of special categories of personal data
  • Processing of Childrens data
  • Specific provisions in data protection legislation of particular relevance to public authorities. (7.5%).
    • Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations (PECR) 2003 and amendments subsequent to 2021.
    • Application of data protection legislation in key areas of industry.
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the impact on the processing of personal data.

Delegates will gain knowledge of UK Data Protection law, along with an understanding of Best Practice appraoches to Compliance, evidence requirements and practical implementation of controls.. The course is designed for those with data protection responsibilities in an organisation or who wish to achieve and demonstrate a broad understanding of the law.

Prerequisites

A Foundational understanding of Data Protection would benefit delegates but is not a requirement for attendance. Our GDPR Foundation course would be a recommended route.

Course details

Assessment +

Delegates are assessed throughout the course with daily quizzes, followed by a written 10 question essay style exam on Day 3.

A passing score is achieved by obtaining a minimum of 70% across both sets of papers. Certificates are processed within 24 hours for successful delegates.

Accreditation +

This course is Accredited under ISO 17024 and administered by NACS

CPD Hours +

The Course attracts 24 CPD hours. A Certificate is issued to support this provision.
